Important Information from The CMS.

On Saturday, January 19, 2008, the CWF Great Lakes and Pacific Hosts will be conducting a history purge. Due to the anticipated duration of this activity and to ensure the completion of weekly processing and scheduled data center maintenance, there will be a CWF dark day on that Saturday. This will mean there will be no access to the Medicare Beneficiary eligibility files which are usually available until noon on Saturdays.

All files received from satellites for Friday’s cycle will be completed prior to bringing CWF production down. If for any reason satellite files are received late Saturday morning, they will be processed by CWF after the history purge has been completed.

Important Information from The CMS.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued CR 5850, Updated National Uniform Billing Committee (NUBC) Codes and Other Internet Only Manual (IOM) Chapter 25 Revisions, on December 14, 2007, with an implementation date of January 7, 2008. The software delivery date has been revised and will be sent to the Data Centers on January 24, 2008.

As a result of the delayed delivery of the coding, this CR will be implemented into production on February 11, 2008.

Important Information for Medicare Providers

Urgent: Test Your Medicare Claims Now!
After Medicare providers have submitted claims containing both NPIs and legacy identifiers and those claims have been paid, Medicare urges these providers to send a small batch of claims now with only the NPI in the primary provider fields. If the results are positive, begin increasing the number of claims in the batch.

(Reminder: For institutional claims, the primary provider fields are the Billing and Pay-to Provider fields. For professional claims, the primary provider fields are the Billing, Pay-to, and Rendering Provider fields. If the Pay-to Provider is the same as the Billing Provider, the Pay-to Provider does not need to be identified.)
